The Principle of Pupil Voice

The basis for pupil voice is found in Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child which sets out the right of children to express an opinion and to be included in decisions that involve and affect them.

Here at Truro Learning Academy we have started the term by finding out what children think about various aspects of school life through an online questionaire. The questionaire was taken by children across KS1 and KS2 - the younger children were read the questions by the older children.

The results of the survey have highlighted a number of areas for the staff to develop as well as positives such as the children enjoy being at school and importantly they feel safe at school.

We will ask the children to to take the same questionnaire at the beginning of the Spring term so that we can compare the results.

School Parliament and School Councillors are also another way children can voice their opinion at TLA.

If you have any questions regarding pupil voice, please do not hesitate to come into school and talk to the class teacher or the Head of School.
